Stress Processing Report™ (SPR)
The SPR enables people to better understand how they react to and cope with stress, and possibly create stress for themselves, at work and in their non-work lives. The inventory measures the extent to which participants exhibit stressful thinking styles and the self-development guide provides insights into these styles and recommendations for switching to healthier styles.
Audience: The SPR is appropriate for individual contributors and managers at all levels of the organisation. The SPR is also appropriate for students, people who are not employed outside of their homes, participants in public stress management programmes, and individuals seeking guidance through counselling or assistance programmes.
Most Frequently Used for:
-
Increasing people’s awareness of how stress works and the role of internal
stressors
-
Providing people with an understanding of how their own thinking increases or
reduces stress
- Helping organisational members to redirect their thinking styles and reduce stress associated with job demands, organisational change, and/or non-work factors
-
Improving psychological and physical health and promoting higher levels of
productivity, cooperation, personal effectiveness
Time Required: 30-40 minutes to complete the inventory
Format: Paper Self-Scored; Online
Feedback Provided: Respondents are provided with feedback on the degree to which their personal styles are healthy versus stressful along 19 specific dimensions organised into four clusters (Self, Others, Process, and Goals).
Presentation of Results: Participants’ SPR results are
displayed on a circular profile derived from HSI’s
circumplex. Participants “take away” from the session their profiles
and their action plans, as recorded in the self-development guide.
Associated Outcomes: Research shows that the SPR styles are related to psychological symptoms of strain (e.g., depression, anxiety), self-reported medical symptoms, and satisfaction with work and non-work life.
